Recovery Zone Facility Bond Program Process and Application

The City Commission of the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida seeks applications from companies and organizations in the City of Fort Lauderdale to participate in the federally-sponsored Recovery Zone Facility Bond Program. The City of Fort Lauderdale has received an allocation of $12,068,000 for the Recovery Zone Facility Bond Program. This program is intended to stimulate economic activity and support qualified economic development projects in defined “recovery zones” within the City of Fort Lauderdale. This program will be administered according to U.S. Treasury and Internal Revenue Service guidelines. The selection process will be in accordance with ordinance No. C-10-14 adopted on April 6, 2010. Fort Lauderdale Ranks #1 in the Nation for the Lowest Tax Burden on Travelers

The NBTA Foundation, the education and research foundation of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), and Concur, the world's leading provider of on-demand Employee Spend Management services, today released the updated findings of an annual study of car rental, hotel and meal taxes in the top 50 U.S. travel destination cities. The study reveals that the discriminatory travel taxes and fees enacted on travel-related services -- often to fund unrelated local projects -- impose an average increased cost on visitors of 56% over general sales tax.

The research also shows the U.S. cities where travelers incur the lowest total tax burden in central city locations, factoring in general sales taxes and discriminatory travel taxes: 1. Fort Lauderdale, FL; 2. Fort Myers, FL; 3. Portland, OR; 4. Detroit, MI; 5. Honolulu, HI
