Marine Facilities

View of Las Olas marinaLush and tropical Fort Lauderdale is a world-renowned port of call for the yachting industry. Blessed with 165 miles of beautiful, navigable waterways, 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, seven miles of pristine beaches and soft ocean breezes, Fort Lauderdale beckons you for your next port-of-call.

Fort Lauderdale has a natural love for boaters -- and just look at what we have to offer! The Intracoastal Waterway is lined with marinas, waterfront restaurants, and nightspots.

An estimated 1,500 mega yachts visit South Florida annually, an 88% increase over the past 10 years. The direct economic impact of mega yacht repair and maintenance services at local boatyards is estimated to be nearly $220 million.

The City is currently upgrading the electrical capacity at its marinas to accommodate the increased power requirements of mega yachts.

The City has long range plans to reconfigure and increase the number of slips available at its facilities to accommodate larger vessels.

The world's largest in-water boat show is also held annually in Fort Lauderdale. Last October, 130,000 people attended our International Boat Show, which featured more than 200 mega yachts – a.k.a. mobile mansions – ranging in value from $1 million to a record $130 million. 2008 will mark the 49th annual event. The boat show has an economic impact of more than $650 million, nearly twice the economic impact of the Super Bowl.
