Stranahan Park Closed Due to Public Health Concerns
Fort Lauderdale -- The Florida Department of Health has cited the City of Fort Lauderdale for unsanitary conditions as a result of rodent infestation in and around Stranahan Park, located at 10 East Broward Boulevard in downtown.
This public health emergency requires immediate action to protect the health, safety and welfare of our community.
The City is closing and vacating Stranahan Park for a minimum of 30 days in order to address the violation and bring the property into compliance.
A temporary fence has been installed around the perimeter of the property to secure the site and allow a professional exterminator to begin mitigating the rodent problem.
Signs are being posted to inform neighbors and visitors of the health hazard and notify them that the park is closed.
It is the City's intention to address this health emergency quickly and decisively, so that the violations can be eradicated and the park can once again be enjoyed by all of our neighbors and visitors.
