Florida East Coast Railway Temporarily Closing Commercial Boulevard Railroad Crossing Aug. 12-15, 2017

The Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway, in conjunction with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), will temporarily close the railroad crossing on Commercial Boulevard, just east of N. Dixie Highway between N.E. 11th Avenue and N.E. 12th Avenue in Oakland Park, for rehabilitation beginning Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 7 a.m. through Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 6 a.m.

Purpose/Scope

This detour is being established to allow workers to perform necessary repairs to the FEC Railway at Commercial Boulevard just east of N. Dixie Highway. During the closure, workers will rehabilitate the existing track to repair defective rails and replace crossing surface to improve ride quality.

Detour Information: (See map and detour information)

Eastbound – Option 1: Traffic on Commercial Boulevard will be directed to go northbound on N. Dixie Highway.

  • Traffic going eastbound on Commercial Boulevard will turn left on N. Dixie Highway and go north to Cypress Creek Road
  • Traffic will then turn right and drive east to US-1
  • Traffic will turn right and drive south back to Commercial Boulevard

Eastbound – Option 2: Traffic on Commercial Boulevard will be directed to go southbound on N. Dixie Highway.

  • Traffic going eastbound on Commercial Boulevard will turn right on N. Dixie Highway and go south to Oakland Park Boulevard
  • Traffic will then turn left and drive east to US-1
  • Traffic will turn left and drive north back to Commercial Boulevard

Westbound – Option 1: Traffic on Commercial Boulevard will be directed to go northbound on US-1.

  • Traffic going westbound on Commercial Boulevard will turn right on US-1 and go north to Cypress Creek Road
  • Traffic will then turn left and drive west to N. Dixie Highway
  • Traffic will then turn left and drive south back to Commercial Boulevard

Westbound – Option 2: Traffic on Commercial Boulevard will be directed to go southbound on US-1.

  • Traffic going westbound on Commercial Boulevard will turn left on US-1 and go south to Oakland Park Boulevard
  • Traffic will then turn right and drive west to N. Dixie Highway
  • Traffic will then turn right and drive north back to Commercial Boulevard
