Fort Lauderdale has some of the finest parks anywhere. If your plans call for picnics, sports, jogging, or just enjoying a day in the sun — visit a park! For more information about City parks, go to City Parks in our Parks and Recreation Department.


George English Park

At George English Park you will find picnic tables, a baseball/softball field, 2 lighted basketball courts, children's playground, boat launching, and 6 lighted hard cushion surface tennis courts. There are also recreation programs and rental facilities.

The park is closed midnight to 5:00 am. There is no admission fee.


Holiday Park

Holiday Park offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities: a baseball/softball field, basketball court, a football/soccer field, jogging trails, picnic pavilions, childrens playground, racquetball, shuffleboard, lighted volleyball, lighted clay and hard tennis courts, horseshoe pits, and a bicycle path.

You will also find a gymnasium, recreation programs (activity and social centers), a park ranger office, and rental facilities available here.

The park is closed midnight to 5 am. There is no admission fee.


Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

At Birch State Park, as it is commonly known, you will find several ways to enjoy the scenery and sunshine of South Florida. There's a path for rollerblading/biking/walking/jogging (whichever you prefer), a lagoon for canoeing, two marked nature trails (the Exotic Trail and the Hammock Trail), two volleyball nets, two play areas, and a visitors center.

Bird watching is very popular at this park, so bring your hats and binoculars to see some fine feathered creatures. Three pavilions are available for rent, so gather some of your best friends, family, or co-workers and enjoy the day at Birch State Park.

This park is open every day of the year, 8am to sunset. Costs are $3.25/per vehicle (up to 8 people) or walk in for $1 per person. Yearly passes are available: $31.80 for individuals or $63.60 for a family.


Joseph C. Carter Park

Much of Joseph C. Carter Park has recently been renovated, making this park the pride of the local neighborhoods. Here you will find four lighted baseball/softball fields, four lighted basketball courts, a gymnasium, jogging trail, pavilions, picnic tables/grills, childrens playground, a swimming pool, racquetball, and three lighted tennis courts.
