Central Area Community Leadership Committee (CLC)
The success of the Community Area Plan ultimately
depends upon substantial input from those who live
and work in the area. A Community Leadership Committee
(CLC) is a group of 25 individuals appointed to assist
in facilitating several public workshops, develop a
vision statement for the South Community Area, help
consolidate community-generated goals, and assist in
formulating implementation strategies to attain these
goals.
Planning staff forwards all CLC applications
to the City Commission for appointment. The Mayor
and the four Commissioners each nominate five members.
Four of the appointees must be directly associated
with the community area, i.e., property owner, business
owner, employee, or resident.
The role of the 25
CLC
members is to:
- Serve as a link between the City
and the Community;
- Represent the ideals of the
Community; and
- Monitor the successful implementation
of the
Community's goals.
All 187 Central Area CLC applications
that were submitted were forwarded to the City
Commission for review. The City Commission appointed
25 of the
applicants for the Central Area Community Leadership
Committee at their April 18, 2000 conference
meeting.
