Central Area Reports

Summary

On April 5, 2001, City Commission accepted the Community Area Plan (CAP) for the Central Area of Fort Lauderdale. The Plan outlined a variety of goals and objectives to encourage a safer community with stronger neighborhoods and improved infrastructure.

The Central Area CAP Report takes the form of a series of documents corresponding to various phases of the planning process:


Document 1: Existing Conditions - Inventory and Analysis

  1. Human Environment: The psychological outlook of the community

  5. Natural Environment: The natural resources of the community
  6. Service Environment: The public and private services provided to the community

Document 3: Central Area Implementation

After City Commission review of the CAP documents 1 and 2, the OCP staff continued to work with the CLC to develop the Recommended Implementation Program. The Annual Report is the format for updating the Commission on the status of the implementation of Central CAP goals and objectives as contained in the Community Area Plan - Central Area, 1999-2001. The document is divided into two volumes:

  • Annual Report 2002 contains a summary of project implementation to date, a description of the CAP Central Area community recommendations, and a discussion of the Safe Neighborhood Improvement District, a proposed funding strategy for the neighborhood and community-wide goals.
  • Annual Report 2002 APPENDIX consists of detailed updates to each of the 17 goals and 57 objectives as delineated in the Implementation Process section of Community Area Plan - Central Area, 1999-2001.
