Community Area Planning Book 2000

Part 1, Section V: Transitioning -- How Do We Get There from Here?

Time Cycle: The CAP initiative will take five (5) years to complete.

The CAP initiative will build upon existing programs, services and facilities that are already in place or are underway. This will ensure that while community area planning is in progress, other areas of the City will continue to receive the full benefits of services and facilities, that have always been expected from the City. Programs or other initiatives that are currently being implemented or that have already been approved by the City Commission will not be delayed.

While working with a community on the CAP, such ongoing activities will be taken into account and incorporated into the CAP end product(s). The result will be to transition each area into a proactive policy document for day to day decision making as well as capital expenditures. In that respect, after five years, the entire City will be functioning in a holistic CAP approach.
