The Department of Sustainable Development encourages and coordinates sustainable growth of the City and promotes well-designed development through sound planning principles that focus on livability, urban revitalization, growth management, and historic preservation. The department provides business liaison functions to the community by focusing on job growth and business attraction, and retention and expansion activities. To improve the overall welfare and appearance of the community, the department also conducts code enforcement, encouraging voluntary compliance and prompt corrections. Moreover, the department issues building permits and conducts inspections to ensure safe and quality construction that is consistent with the Florida Building Code.
