
The City of Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FS/AWWA), is excited to announce the annual Drop Savers Water Conservation Art Contest to celebrate Drinking Water Week this May 6 - 12, 2012. In celebration of this annual event, the City is challenging Fort Lauderdale students to show off their artistic talents to promote water awareness and the importance of water conservation. Through the vision of our youth, the Drop Savers Contest will connect the importance of water conservation to the value and appreciation of water.
Guidelines
- Artwork must portray an understanding of water conservation through creative drawings and slogans.
- The design must be created on 8½” x 11” (letter size) paper.
- Students may use crayons, pencils, markers, paint, oil paints, watercolors, sequins, glitter, etc. to create their design.
- Students must work on posters individually and only original artwork will be accepted (i.e., no trademarked or copyrighted materials, logos, etc.)
- The student’s name, teacher’s name, school name, and student’s grade level must be typed or printed on the back of the poster design entry.
- Children of the City’s Utilities Bureau employees are not eligible
The art entry, signed consent form, and the student information form must be submitted by Monday, March 05, 2012 to: (Please do not fold the artwork.)

Winners
Once students submit their artwork, City of Fort Lauderdale Utilities Bureau staff will select a first, second, and third place winner from each of the following grade categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. All first place winning entries will be submitted to the FS/AWWA for the state competition.
Prizes and Recognition
City of Fort Lauderdale first, second, and third place Drop Savers Contest winners will receive the following prizes and recognition:
- A T-shirt with the winning design printed on it
- A Barnes & Noble gift card and framed certificate
- Winning designs will be posted to the City’s website
Winners will be publicly recognized at a City of Fort Lauderdale Commission meeting.
