Fort Lauderdale Announces 2011 Drop Savers Contest Winners

The City of Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association, sponsored the Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest to celebrate Drinking Water Week, which was recognized May 1-7, 2011.

Winners

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Drop Savers contest, which is designed to promote water awareness and the importance of water conservation through creative thinking and design.

Students in grades K-12 from Fort Lauderdale public, private, and charter schools were invited to participate in the contest. Entries were submitted by 112 who used their own ideas, designs, and slogans to create posters that demonstrated their knowledge and understanding about the importance of conserving water.

The contest winners, along with their families and their teachers, attended a recent Fort Lauderdale City Commission meeting and were publicly recognized for their achievements. They were also presented with a T-shirt with their winning design printed on it, a Barnes & Noble gift card, and a plaque.

The first place winning designs from each grade category were submitted into the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association’s state competition. The City of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce that Anna Mackie from Floranada Elementary School was selected as the 2011 Division II second place winner in the statewide competition.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to present the 2011 Drop Saver Water Conservation Poster Contest winners.
