Message from Fire Chief James R. Eddy

Please allow me to welcome you to the City of Fort Lauderdale's Fire-Rescue Department. We have a staff of over 450 dedicated personnel providing fire and rescue services to a diverse population. In addition to providing Fire-Rescue Services we also operate with many highly trained special operations teams. Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, Dive Rescue, Marine Fire/Rescue, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Medics, Fire Investigation, Fire Prevention, and Inspections and Code Compliance are just a few examples.

Explore our web site and examine the various divisions, bureaus, and sections within our organization. Our Administrative Division, Operations Division, Training, Support Services, Budget Coordination, Recruitment, and Fire Prevention each offer and provide significant programs that allow us to meet the needs of those we protect.

The men and women of this organization are highly trained, dedicated, and committed to providing service that can only be described as excellent. They provide excellence in service through training, professionalism, efficiency, and dedication.

Our primary goal is the protection of persons and property wherever, whenever, and however that goal has to be accomplished. It is my pleasure to welcome you to our web site and my distinct honor to serve with the personnel of Fort Lauderdale's Fire-Rescue Department.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is a wonderful place to visit and explore and I encourage you to do so. While here give us a call; we'd be glad to show you around fire headquarters and assist you in any way that we can.
