AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix
May 10 to 13, 2007
The City of Fort Lauderdale will host the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix at the Aquatic Complex May 10-13, 2007.
The event will feature many of the world’s best divers for four days of top level international competition. The AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix is the sole U.S. leg on the seven-country FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) Grand Prix tour.
Approximately 20 countries and more than 100 divers are scheduled to compete. Among the divers expected are 17 who won medals at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, in March. In addition, three U.S. Olympians: 2000 Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson, 2000 and 2004 Olympian Troy Dumais and 2004 Olympian Cassandra Cardinell are scheduled to compete.
Competition will be conducted in four events for both men and women: 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, 3-meter synchronized springboard and 10-meter synchronized platform. The Fort Lauderdale Diving Team and the City of Fort Lauderdale, along with USA Diving, are hosting the event.
Competing as part of Team USA is Jevon Tarantino of the Fort Lauderdale Dive Team -- who just won the U.S. National Championship title in the Men's 3-meter Springboard and Men's 3-meter Synchronized Diving. In addition, Greg Louganis will attend the event and sign autographs.
The following countries will participate in this year’s event: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and Uzbekistan.
