Airport Safety Alert

Runway SignThe Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport has been experiencing a number of vehicles and pedestrians that get lost and disoriented and end up on active taxiways and runways. When this occurs it is called a Surface Incident and it could have tragic results or severe penalties.

A Surface Incident is any event where an unauthorized movement occurs on taxiways and runways, known as the Movement Area, and could affect the safety of aircraft operation. A Surface Incident can result in a Runway Incursion, which is defined as a collision hazard or loss of separation on a runway caused by an aircraft, vehicle or pedestrian.

Signs have been placed around the airport to help define the Safety Areas and boundaries of active taxiways.

Please do not drive or walk past one of these signs unless you have been authorized by the Airport Manager's Office and are in radio contact with the Air Traffic Control Tower.

Please ensure that you have detailed directions to and from your destination on the airport from the people you are coming to visit. For additional assistance in locating facilities, please call the Airport Manager's Office at 954-828-4955. If you are unsure of where you need to go, please stop and ask for assistance before you become a statistic.
