Employment with the City

The Job List for the City of Fort Lauderdale is updated weekly. If you see a position for which you would like to apply, be sure to follow these instructions carefully. Incomplete, improper or late applications cannot be accepted. You must submit a separate application for each position for which you wish to be considered.

How to Apply for a Job

  1. If necessary, download Adobe Reader and install it on your computer (to view PDF files PDF File).
  2. Download the City's Employment Application PDF File (PDF; six pages) or save the City's Employment Application Word File in Word format to your computer for use in a word processor.
  3. Go to the Job List to see our current openings.
  4. Download the job descriptions and supplements, if any.
  5. If applicable, download a Veteran's Preference Form PDF File.
  6. When you are ready, APPLY ONLINE (follow the on-screen instructions carefully).
  7. If you prefer, you can also mail or return in person your completed employment application and forms (applications may not be e-mailed or faxed). The mailing address is:
