The Human Resources Department has implemented a new online hiring system called NEOGOV that works in conjunction with GovernmentJobs.com!

Applying Online

GovernmentJobs.com allows applicants to create a user account, apply for positions directly online, and even check the status of their candidacy. To get started and familiarize yourself with this process, please read the Online Application Guide. You may then proceed to the Current Job Opportunities page for further instruction.

The Current Job Opportunities list for the City of Fort Lauderdale is updated weekly.  If you see a position for which you would like to apply, be sure to follow the instructions carefully. Incomplete, improper or late applications will not be considered. You must submit a separate application for each position for which you wish to be considered.

Submitting Paper Copy Applications

Although we encourage you to use our online system, if you prefer, or do not always have computer access, you may also mail or return in person your completed employment application and forms.  You may come by our office to pick up an application, or obtain a copy by following the instructions below.

  1. Go to Current Job Opportunities to view all current job openings.
  2. Choose and open the position for which you want to apply.
  3. Click the "Print Job Information" link located on the right-side of the page.  From your browser window, choose File > Print.
  4. Download and print the City's Employment Application PDF File (PDF; five pages).
  5. If the printed position contains supplemental questions, be sure to complete and return them with your application.   If applicable, print and complete a Veteran's Preference Form PDF File.
  6. You may mail or return in person your completed employment application and forms (applications may not be e-mailed of faxed).  The mailing address is:

Résumés cannot be accepted in lieu of an official application.  Job applications, résumés, and pre- and post- job offer questionnaires must be made available for public inspection on request and cannot be kept confidential, according to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes.
