Citizens' Crime Alert

Citizens' Crime Alert

Citizens' Crime Alert of Fort Lauderdale, Inc. was established in 1983.  The mission of the organization is:

"To encourage a partnership between the citizens of Fort Lauderdale and the Police Department in an effort to reduce crime and illegal drugs in our neighborhoods, and to develop awareness and involvement in the criminal justice system."

Citizens' Crime Alert is dedicated to the following objectives:

  1. To educate the residents of Fort Lauderdale as to methods for eliminating conditions which invite crime;
  2. To develop and activate community resources, for the prevention and control of criminal activity; and
  3. To establish a communication network for receiving and transmitting information related to crime, to the neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale.

Since the organization’s inception, Citizens' Crime Alert has been the primary organizer of the annual "National Night Out" program in Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods.  The group has also assisted neighborhoods in organizing civic associations and establishing Neighborhood Watch programs.

Monthly Citizens' Crime Alert Meetings

Residents are encouraged to actively participate in the safety and protection of  their neighborhood and community by attending Citizens' Crime Alert meetings.  Every month, the Citizens' Crime Alert meets with a Fort Lauderdale Police Officer to discuss public safety and crime prevention strategies that can be used at home and in the community.

The Citizens' Crime Alert meetings take place on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the 8th floor meeting room of City Hall, located at 100 N. Andrews Avenue.
