WOW Award Winner of the Month - 2007

December 2007

WOW WinnerStephanie Pavelic
Lands Residential Association, District 1

Community Appearance Board members Franci Bindler and Ron Fairchild nominated Stephanie Pavelic’s property for the December WOW Award.

Stephanie rented her residence for one year and loved it so much she purchased it three years ago.

Upon purchasing the home, she installed new windows, a brick paver driveway and a barrel tile roof. She re-landscaped and repainted her home in an attractive color. A local artist added hand painted vine of purple and magenta flowers around the archways that lead to the entrance to her home, which offers a warm and welcoming effect.

The Fort Lauderdale City Commission and the Community Appearance Board proudly present the WOW Award to Stephanie and thanks her for enhancing the community.

We have the pleasure of presenting Stephanie with a certificate of appreciation from the City Commission, and a $75 gift certificate from the WOW Award sponsor, Causeway Lumber Company.

November 2007

WOW WinnerBeverly and James Tyler
Shady Banks Civic Association, Commission District 4

The November WOW Award is presented to Beverly and James Tyler. Ayisha Gordon, Community Appearance Board member, and John Castelli Vice-Chair of the board, nominated this property.

Beverly and James purchased their lovely 1953 Ranch Style home in June 1980. When they first laid eyes on their new home, they knew it would be their home forever. They were captivated by the landscape, which was well maintained by the previous owner, but they had great ideas of their own.

James planted some Black Olive trees, Dade County Pine trees, and a large Oak tree. The well-manicured lawn and the meticulously designed oval-shaped trees are evidence of the tremendous pride that Beverly and James take in the care of their home.

To further enhance the property, Beverly and James put in a new pool. During hurricane Wilma, their neighbor’s large tree blew over and landed in the pool and the wind blew off the roof.

Despite these trials and small setbacks, Beverly and James were determined to bring it all back together again. They purchased a new roof and repaired damages to the pool.

The Tylers love their home, their wonderful neighbors, and do not have any plans of moving out of the Shady Banks community.

The Fort Lauderdale City Commission and the Community Appearance Board proudly present the WOW Award to Beverly and James and thank them for enhancing the community.

We have the pleasure of presenting Beverly and James with a certificate of appreciation from the City Commission, and a gift certificate from the WOW Award sponsor, Causeway Lumber Company.
