Please be advised that this report is compiled from multiple sources and agencies that, at times, provide conflicting information. Every effort is made to ensure accuracy; however, due to the fluid nature of road closures, this information is subject to change.

Information Regarding Street Closures in the City of Fort Lauderdale


>>   Replacement of the Broward Boulevard Bridge over the North Fork of the New River

  • Construction will begin October 7, 2016 and will be completed in summer 2018.
  • Access to businesses, residences and schools will be maintained at all times.
  • Single-lane closures are expected Mondays through Fridays between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Double-lane closures are expected Mondays through Fridays between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Lane closures may also occur on weekends, except during special events.

>> Overhead Aluminum Sign Replacement Project - The following lane closures are expected for each of the sign locations, unless otherwise noted below. One lane in each direction may be closed Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Two lanes may be closed Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. adjacent to the sign installation location. Construction will begin September 12, 2016 and is expected to be completed by summer 2017.

  • US 1 north of Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale
    • Motorists can expect a full closure of US 1 north of Sunrise Blvd that will occur Monday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • US 1/Sunrise Blvd and NE 18th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale
    • Motorists can expect a full closure of US 1/Sunrise Blvd and NE 18th Avenue that will occur Monday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Eastbound SR 84 west of SW 26th Terrace in Fort Lauderdale
    • Motorists can expect a full closure of SR 84 west of SW 26th Terrace that will occur Monday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Westbound SR 84 west of SW 18th Terrace in Fort Lauderdale
    • Motorists can expect a full closure of Westbound SR 84 west of SW 18th Terrace that will occur Monday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Eastbound SR 84 east of SE 4th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale
    • Motorists can expect a full closure of eastbound SR 84 east of SE 4th Avenue that will occur Monday through Thursday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.

>> Temporary Railway Grade Crossing Closures in Fort Lauderdale

Crews working for All Aboard Florida will temporarily close the following intersections to perform construction improvements necessary for the introduction of the Brightline passenger rail service:

  • Davie Boulevard Grade Crossing
    Crews working for All Aboard Florida will temporarily close the Davie Boulevard grade crossing from Thursday, October 13, 7 a.m. through Friday, October 21, 6 p.m. to perform construction improvements necessary for the introduction of the Brightline passenger rail service.


 >> CSX Bridge Replacement over the South Fork of the New River

  • The outside shoulder of the eastbound I-595 exit ramp to northbound I-95 is closed through early 2017.
  • There will be intermittent interruptions in the channel for marine traffic while contractor performs some activities with the bridge in the lowered position. The bridge will open when a vessel approaches, but there may be short delays.

>> State Road A1A Construction Work through Summer 2017
  • Improvements on A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue
  • Two lanes of traffic in each direction of A1A will be maintained at all times.
  • The existing 35 mph speed limit will remain in effect during construction.
  • Single-lane closures can be expected from 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • At signalized intersections, a lane may be closed for a period of two hours or less between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • A sidewalk will be maintained on at least one side of the road within the project limits. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians through the work zone.
  • During construction, the right or outside lane in each direction will become a shared bicycle lane and will have temporary "sharrow" (share the road) pavement markings and signage.

>> Annual Concrete Sidewalk Repairs

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with contractors to repair sidewalks near entrances to schools and hospitals adjacent to City-owned properties, as well as sidewalks damaged by tree roots in swales.  Upcoming repairs are scheduled to take place in the following neighborhoods:

  • Coral Ridge Isles HOA: September 19 - September 27, 2016
  • Galt Mile Community Association: September 28 - October 3, 2016
  • Imperial Point HOA: July 13 - September 27, 2016
  • Rio Vista: August 29 - October 21, 2016

>> NE 11th Court Stormwater Improvements

Plans are underway to implement stormwater improvements to prevent tidal flooding on NE 11th Court. This project is scheduled to start in late August and be completed by the end of November 2016. The following improvements are planned to be installed to reduce stormwater flooding:  (1) Tidal valve; (2) Exfiltration trench; (3) New drainage structures. Temporary lane closures will be in effect during construction. Local access will be maintained, but motorists should expect delays.


>> NE 32nd Avenue Drainage Improvements

Plans are underway to implement stormwater improvements to prevent tidal flooding on NE 32nd Avenue. This project is scheduled to start the week of August 22 and be completed by the end of September 2016. The following improvements are planned to be installed to reduce stormwater flooding: (1) Three tidal valves; (2) New watertight manhole covers; (3) Associated infrastructure. Temporary lane closures will be in effect during construction. Local access will be maintained, but motorists should expect delays.


>> South Birch Road and Banyan Street Sewer Improvements

Plans are underway to upgrade a portion of the sewer system beneath Banyan Street and South Birch Road. Temporary road closures on Banyan Street and South Birch Road are scheduled to take place between August 17 and October 3, 2016. The road will remain open to local traffic and access to parking spaces and residences will be maintained. Motorists are asked to please drive with caution and follow flagmen in the area. Water and sewer service should not be affected during construction.
