Please be advised that this report is compiled from multiple sources and agencies that, at times, provide conflicting information. Every effort is made to ensure accuracy; however, due to the fluid nature of road closures, this information is subject to change.

Information Regarding Street Closures in the City of Fort Lauderdale


>>  Eastbound Las Olas Boulevard

Eastbound Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between SE 3rd and SE 4th Avenues from Sunday, December 4, at 6 p.m. through Friday, December 9, at 5 p.m.


>> All Aboard Florida Temporary Grade Crossing Closures

Crews working for All Aboard Florida will temporarily close the following grade crossings in the City of Fort Lauderdale to perform construction improvements necessary for the introduction of the Brightline passenger rail service:

  • Sunrise Boulevard/SR 838
    Monday, December 5, 7 a.m., through Friday, December 9, 6 p.m.
  • Commercial Boulevard
    Tuesday, December 6, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    Traveling eastbound, the inner lane (right-hand lane) will be closed (the lane closure will begin at NE 9th Ave).
    Traveling westbound, the inner lane (left-hand lane) will be closed (the lane closure will begin at NE 13th Ave).
  • NE 17th Court
    Thursday, December 8, 7 a.m., through Thursday, December 15, 6 p.m.
  • NE 6th Street/Sistrunk Boulevard
    Monday, December 12, 7 a.m., through Saturday, December 17, 6 p.m.


>> I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard
  • Northbound and southbound express lanes may be closed as needed for plastic pole repair from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday. Drivers should use the non-tolled general-use lanes.


>>  I-95 from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard

  • Three lanes of northbound I-95 will be closed Monday through Thursday, with the first lane closing at 10:30 p.m., the second lane closing at 11:30 p.m. and the third lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m.

  • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will be closed Monday through Thursday between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. through December. (One lane of the ramp will close at 10 p.m. nightly). Traffic will be detoured via Sunrise Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol will be on scene to assist motorists.

  • The right shoulder of the I-95 northbound exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will be closed through December.

  • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Sunrise Boulevard will be closed Monday through Thursday between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. through November. Traffic will be detoured north on I-95 to the westbound Oakland Park Boulevard exit and back to southbound I-95. FHP will be on scene to assist motorists. **The Sunrise Boulevard northbound exit ramp will not be closed at the same time as the Broward Boulevard northbound exit ramp.

  • The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Sunrise Boulevard will be closed Monday through Thursday between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. through November. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road and Oakland Park Boulevard. FHP will be on scene to assist motorists. **The Sunrise Boulevard northbound entrance ramp will not be closed at the same time as the Broward Boulevard northbound entrance ramp.

  • The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from westbound Broward Boulevard will be closed Monday through Thursday between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Nov. 13 through December. Traffic will be detoured via westbound Broward Boulevard and I-95 northbound. FHP will be on scene to assist motorists.

  • Two eastbound lanes of Broward Boulevard from I-95 to NW 15th Avenue will be closed Sunday through Thursday, with the first lane closing at 10 p.m. and the second lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 6 a.m.

  • Two westbound lanes of Broward Boulevard from I-95 to NW 15th Avenue will be closed Sunday through Thursday, with the first lane closing at 9 p.m. and the second lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 6 a.m.


>> A1A Improvements Project from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue
  • Northbound traffic is shifted slightly west toward the center of the road. Southbound traffic will remain on the west side of the road. Traffic will be in this configuration through March 2017, while the contractor completes the reconstruction of the east side of the road. Two lanes will be open in each direction.
  • Access from northbound Galt Ocean Drive to A1A will be restricted through March 2017. Motorists may access A1A via NE 41st Street, NE 36th Street and NE 35th Street.
  • One northbound lane of A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Road may be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for drainage improvements.
  • Intersections within the project limits may be closed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for drainage improvements and roadway reconstruction. No more than one intersection will be closed at any time. Motorists will be detoured to the next signalized intersection.


>>  A1A Improvements Project from east of the Mercedes River Bridge to Sunrise Boulevard
  • One lane in each direction of A1A from the Mercedes River Bridge to SE 5th Street will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for resurfacing.

  • One eastbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard from the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge to A1A will be closed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for concrete removal, curb and gutter installation, and drainage installation.

  • One westbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard from A1A to the Intracoastal Waterway will be closed continuously through Friday, December 3 for concrete removal, curb and gutter installation and drainage installation.


>> NW 9th Avenue / Powerline Road Improvements Project from Broward Boulevard

NW 9th Avenue / Powerline Road from NW 3rd Street to NW 5th Street will be open to local traffic only Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage improvements. Motorists will be detoured as follows:

  • NW 9th Avenue / Powerline Road from NW 3rd Street to NW 5th Street will be open to local traffic only Saturday, November 19 and Monday through Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage improvements. Motorists will be detoured as follows:
    • Northbound NW 9th Avenue will be detoured to NW 7th Avenue
    • Southbound NW 9th Avenue will be detoured to NW 7th Avenue or NW 11th Avenue.
    • NW 4th Street will be detoured to NW 2nd Street or NW 5th Street.
  • One lane in each direction of NW 9 Avenue / Powerline Road from Broward Boulevard to NW 3 Street will be closed Saturday, November 19 and Monday through Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for drainage improvements.


>> CSX Bridge Replacement over the South Fork of the New River
  • The outside shoulder of the eastbound I-595 exit ramp to northbound I-95 is closed through early 2017.
  • There will be intermittent interruptions in the channel for marine traffic while contractor performs some activities with the bridge in the lowered position. The bridge will open when a vessel approaches, but there may be short delays


>>   Replacement of the Broward Boulevard Bridge over the North Fork of the New River
  • Construction began October 7, 2016 and will be completed in summer 2018.
  • Access to businesses, residences and schools will be maintained at all times.
  • Single-lane closures are expected Mondays through Fridays between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Double-lane closures are expected Mondays through Fridays between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Lane closures may also occur on weekends, except during special events.

 >> State Road A1A Construction Work through Summer 2017
  • Improvements on A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue
  • Two lanes of traffic in each direction of A1A will be maintained at all times.
  • The existing 35 mph speed limit will remain in effect during construction.
  • Single-lane closures can be expected from 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • At signalized intersections, a lane may be closed for a period of two hours or less between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • A sidewalk will be maintained on at least one side of the road within the project limits. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians through the work zone.
  • During construction, the right or outside lane in each direction will become a shared bicycle lane and will have temporary "sharrow" (share the road) pavement markings and signage.

Please remember to slow down in construction areas and always buckle up, drive carefully and arrive safely. Share the road.
