Neighborhood Development Criteria Revisions Background

One of Fort Lauderdale’s greatest assets is its dynamic neighborhoods. As our City continues to grow and develop, it is important that we work together to preserve the values, attributes and strengths that make our neighborhoods special.

With that in mind, the City of Fort Lauderdale has launched an exciting new project, the Neighborhood Development Criteria Revisions. This citywide planning initiative is designed to protect the best qualities of our neighborhoods and ensure that we continue to create active, diverse and livable communities.

A key component of this process is citizen participation. In the coming months, residents will have an opportunity to provide input at numerous community workshops regarding future guidelines for neighborhood development.

Topics to be covered will include: identifying issues related to neighborhood redevelopment; creating a vision for future neighborhood redevelopment; making recommendations for new guidelines to preserve neighborhood character; and protecting neighborhoods from over development.
