The City of Fort Lauderdale’s redistricting process in underway.
The City Commission held a public meeting on August 25, 2011 to discuss redrawing district boundaries to balance the population of each area based on new data from the 2010 Census.
The City Commission encouraged interested individuals to participate in the process by submitting maps of revised commission district boundaries.
The deadline for submitting all maps to the City Attorney’s Office was September 22, 2011.
Once a new district boundary map is accepted by the Commission, an ordinance will be noticed, adopted and sent to the Supervisor of Elections. In order to have the new district boundaries in effect for the next election cycle, this process will need to be completed by the first City Commission meeting in October.
Please contact the City Attorney’s Office at 954-828-5940 with any questions.
