Coastal Cleanup

Join us for a special day dedicated to protecting, preserving, and restoring our seas during the 27th Annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to noon.

REGISTRATION: You MUST register to participate at www.signuptocleanup.org.  To select a Fort Lauderdale cleanup site, type Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA in the “Find A Beach Clean Up Near You” search box at the top of the webpage. Please sign up by noon on Friday, September 14. The City of Fort Lauderdale is sponsoring a cleanup site at Earl Lifshey Park, located at the corner of Oakland Park and N. Ocean Boulevard. Volunteers are needed at this location.

DAY OF CLEANUP: Volunteers should arrive at their selected cleanup site by 9 a.m., Saturday, September 15.  They should dress appropriately for the weather, either rain or shine, as the Cleanup will only be cancelled due to a tropical storm system resulting in a Watch or Warning.  Be sure to bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen, and water.

Protect Fort Lauderdale’s waterways year round by reporting illegal dumping into the stormwater system. Storm drains lead to the City’s local waterways. State law prohibits dumping anything into the storm drain system or unauthorized obstructions or alterations of the drainage features.
