Resident Beach Parking Permit
Making Our Beaches Safer and Free to Residents!
The City is expanding lifeguard protection to North Beach and giving Fort Lauderdale residents free beach parking with the new Resident Beach Parking Permit.
Metered Parking at North Beach
Under an innovative plan approved by the City, parking fees collected at North Beach are dedicated to funding lifeguard protection. Twenty-five new, multi-space meters have been installed along A1A (east and west side) from Sunrise Blvd. north to NE 19th St. This allows the City to increase public safety at its beach with no cost passed on to its residents. The City is adding five new lifeguard towers to the 15 towers currently stationed along the 2-1/2 mile stretch of beach, and Fort Lauderdale Ocean Rescue has added eight new certified lifeguards and appointed two new lieutenants to protect beachgoers.
Great Value for City Residents
Frequent beachgoers will enjoy the value of free parking and easier access to the beach. City residents will be able to park free at North Beach, Fort Lauderdale Beach Park (formerly South Beach), and the North Birch/Intracoastal E-Lot with the annual purchase of a Resident Beach Parking Permit for $6.
