| Responsibilities: | Police Captain assigned to the Office of Internal Affairs. As an officer, Rick served in the Operations Bureau (Patrol), in both the District II and District III Special Problems Units and in the Special Investigations Division as a member of the Street Narcotics Unit. As a sergeant, Rick returned to Patrol until his transfer to the Internal Affairs Unit. His final assignment prior to being promoted to the rank of captain in 2005 was in the Administrative Support Division where Rick supervised the Alarm Unit and the Background Investigations Unit. Prior to returning to the Office of Internal Affairs in July, Rick served as the captain of District II / Shift III. The Office of Internal Affairs’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the investigation of all allegations of unnecessary or excessive use of force, allegations of criminal misconduct, allegations of false arrest and other allegations of police employee misconduct. The mission of the Office of Internal Affairs is to protect the public trust and to maintain the integrity of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and it is the policy of the Office of Internal Affairs is to conduct thorough, fair and objective investigations. |
