City of Fort Lauderdale and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park to Host Earth Day Film Festival and Social

Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, will present an Earth Day Film Festival and Social on Saturday, April 14, 2007 from noon to 5 p.m. Hosted by the City’s Recycling Office, the free event will take place at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, located at 3109 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Entrance to the park is free for everyone who says “Earth Day” at the gate.
The event will feature environmental films including Baraka, Kilowatt Ours and Over the Hedge; displays from various environmental organizations; children’s games and craft activities; free popcorn, organic pizza samples and bottled water; a hybrid vehicle display; flautist Laura Sue, the Silver Nightingale; and free canoeing.
Event goers can also learn about the 2007 “Step It Up” Campaign, which aims to reduce carbon by 80 percent by 2050, as well as take part in the campaign’s National Day of Climate Action.
