81st Annual National Public Parks Tennis Tournament Comes to Fort Lauderdale July 28 – August 3

Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale and the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center (JETC) are the proud hosts of the 81st Annual National Public Parks Tennis Tournament from July 28 – August 3, 2007.
Competition will be held on the 21 courts of the JETC, the George English Center and Lauderdale Tennis Club. The tournament will include over 62 events including men’s and women’s open singles and doubles, age groups from Juniors 12 & under through Seniors 90 & over, wheelchair and family events.
Besides excellent competition, there will be a Welcome Player Social at the July 27 Friday Night Bank of America Starlight Musicals at Holiday Park; a Caribbean-themed Player Party on July 31 at the newly restored War Memorial Auditorium with a live band, delicious buffet, industry vendors and awards presentations; and a Championship Awards Luncheon on August 3 to conclude the event.
A concierge desk will provide useful information on area attractions such as Metro Zoo, IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame, Airboat Rides, nearby restaurant favorites, and much more. Five area host hotels will provide a variety of price and amenity options that will suit any budget.
City residents and visitors are welcome to celebrate 50 years of Tennis in Holiday Park and experience tennis’ newest innovations, including One-on-One Doubles and Beach Tennis. In addition, Cardio Tennis Clinics will be offered as an early morning warm-up for players, guests and spectators.
