Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale will host a Hurricane Preparation Meeting this Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Devine Mercy Catholic Church, located at 1105 NW 6th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
Fort Lauderdale organized the meeting to provide important emergency preparedness information to the Haitian community. Creole speakers will relay disaster preparation techniques, safety tips and response measures from several City departments including Emergency Management, Fire-Rescue and the Police Department.
A representative from the City of Fort Lauderdale's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will also be present to teach residents how to get ready for specific hazards that may impact their area.
The Hurricane Preparation Meeting is part of Fort Lauderdale’s citywide preparedness initiative to provide all residents with the information they need to protect themselves, their families and their neighborhoods in the event of a hurricane or other emergency. The meeting is open to the public and all City residents are encouraged to attend.
