Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale Utility Advisory Committee will host the Green Living Expo in Stranahan Park from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Stranahan Park is located at Broward Boulevard and Andrews Avenue, in front of the main library in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

The event will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with a brief program to celebrate Arbor Day. Scheduled speakers will include representatives from the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club, the Women’s Club, and Mayor Jim Naugle, who will receive an award to recognize the City’s 29th annual designation as a Tree City USA.

Following the presentation, the Green Living Expo will be open to the public. The event will feature informational booths, displays and exhibits that will be set up as an eco-fair throughout Stranahan Park. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., Fort Lauderdale residents will be able to pick up a free tree with proof of residency, while supplies last.

The Green Living Expo will also offer children’s activities and light refreshments. FPL’s Captain Conservation will be on hand to meet and greet kids and teach them about proper energy use and conservation. AT&T will collect old wireless devices for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, which provides military families with free phone cards.
