Fort Lauderdale - City of Fort Lauderdale utility workers have restored water pressure to the north and south sides of the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, including the Broward County Courthouse and jail facilities.
The downtown area experienced low water pressure earlier this morning as a result of a break in a 16-inch water main, located underneath the New River just east of Andrews Avenue.
City utility crews worked through the early morning hours to identify the water main break. Once the damaged water main was isolated, workers were able to successfully restore water pressure to area buildings and facilities.
Damage to the pipe is currently being assessed and necessary repair work will be completed.
