Construction on Sistrunk Blvd Near I-95 Underpass to Start Monday

Fort Lauderdale - City of Fort Lauderdale’s WaterWorks 2011 will begin construction on NW 6 Street (Sistrunk Blvd) between NW 21 Ave and NW 21 TR beginning Monday, November 30, 2009. The two lanes of westbound traffic will converge to one lane and divert to the south side of Sistrunk Blvd starting at NW 19 Ave and ending at NW 24 Ave. The two lanes of eastbound traffic will reduce to one lane and remain on the south side of the roadway. A railroad flagger will be present at the east side of the crossing. Active work hours are from 9AM to 3PM, Monday through Friday. Project completion is scheduled for early 2010.

The City is upgrading utility infrastructure in the area as a part of the WaterWorks 2011 program. The improvements will include night/weekend work starting 8PM Friday, December 4, 2009, to 6AM Monday, December 7, 2009. Other project locations are NW 19 St at NW 21 Ave; NW 27 Ave at NW 2 St (Pump Station A-35); and NW 27 Ave at NW 6 St. Both trenchless technology and open-cut methods of construction are planned for use.
