Fort Lauderdale - A 1959 hot pink Cadillac convertible; the World Famous Elbo Room; muscle boys decked out in vintage beach attire; and the star of the 1960 hit movie Where The Boys Are . . . Put it all together and you have the makings for a one-of-a-kind nostalgic event to celebrate a special time in Fort Lauderdale’s history.

On Friday, January 29, 2010 at 4:30 p.m., Connie Francis, star of Where The Boys Are, will join Fort Lauderdale Mayor John P. “Jack” Seiler and other dignitaries at a press conference on Fort Lauderdale Beach to mark the 50th Anniversary of the film and announce plans for a major special event scheduled for May 28 - 29, 2010.

Fort Lauderdale Mayor John P. “Jack” Seiler, City officials and dignitaries will roll out the red carpet to welcome internationally renown celebrity Connie Francis to Fort Lauderdale Beach.
WHEN / WHERE:
Friday, January 29, 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Las Olas Boulevard and A1A directly across from the World Famous Elbo Room, one of the main filming locations for the 1960 classic movie, Where The Boys Are.
WHAT:
Plans will be announced for a major special event that will take place on Fort Lauderdale Beach, May 28 - 29, 2010. Dubbed the “Where The Boys Are / Connie Francis’ Great American Beach Party,” this free event will celebrate the film’s 50th Anniversary and capture the spirit and nostalgia of the 1960s.
