Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale reminds residents and visitors that the A1A Marathon will take place along Fort Lauderdale Beach on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Although both lanes of A1A northbound will be dedicated to runners, north and south vehicular traffic will be redirected to the southbound lanes of A1A for travel through the area. Temporary road closures will occur on Seabreeze Boulevard at E. Las Olas Boulevard from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., and on A1A just north of Sunrise Boulevard between 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Motorists will experience heavy traffic and congestion along A1A and are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays until 12:30 p.m. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will have over 100 officers stationed along the marathon route to guide pedestrians and motorists and ensure public safety.
