Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department’s Teen
Advisory Board will host dinner on Thursday, May 12th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Lauderdale
Manors Community Center located at 1340 Chateau Park Drive, Fort Lauderdale 33311.

Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children was launched in 2001 by The National
Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. Family Day is a national movement that informs
parents that the engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help
keep America’s kids substance-free. The Pasta 4 Prevention event is the Teen Advisory Board’s
interpretation of Family Day - Eat Dinner with Your Children. The event will include a
complimentary spaghetti pasta dinner served by participants of the Fort Lauderdale Teen
Advisory Board.

Scheduled to appear is General Arthur T. Dean, president of CADCA (Community of Anti-Drug
Coalitions of America). CADCA is a national prevention training organization funded by the
White House Office of Drug Control. Also in attendance will be representatives from the Fort
Lauderdale Police Department, Fort Lauderdale Park Rangers, and area homeowners
associations. Area leaders and local elected officials have also been invited to attend. Event
facilitators will actively discuss a plan of action to address the issue of crime in the urban Central
Broward community by the promotion of strengthening the family.
