Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale Community Appearance Board (CAB) recently announced the winners of the 33rd Annual Community Appearance Awards, including the Property and WOW of the Year. Twenty Fort Lauderdale properties, which are listed below, received top honors based on their exterior design, use of outdoor space, and how well they visually enhance the surrounding community.
This year, the CAB expanded its annual awards program to include two new awards. The Neighborhood and Business Recognition Awards recognize and acknowledge collaborative projects that improve the quality of life and revitalize and enrich our communities. The Neighborhood Recognition Award was presented to The Grove Neighborhood at River Oaks for its litter and graffiti removal project that spanned a half mile from The Grove entryway on State Road 84 to I-95. The Business Recognition Award was presented to both BB&T Bank for the Lighthouse landscape beautification project at the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club and to the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale for its Power of One Hour, which was a Lauderdale Manors and South Middle River neighborhood beautification project.
As part of the City’s 100th birthday celebration, the CAB also presented the Centennial Award to the most historic property over the past 100 years. The award was given to the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club for preserving the spirit and history of Fort Lauderdale through outstanding architecture and design.
Presented each year by the Fort Lauderdale City Commission and the Community Appearance Board, the awards recognize homeowners, homeowners associations, architects, developers and builders for projects that enhance the City's visual image and economic vitality. The annual event is funded through sponsorships and ticket sales.
Sponsors for this year’s awards program include Dickey Consulting Services, Inc.; Doumar, Allsworth, Laystrom, Voigt, Wachs, Adair, Parke, & Brosack, LLP; Floridian Partners, LLC; Gold Coach Tours, LLC; Gold Coast Rent-All, Inc.; Harbor Park Warehouse, LLC; Judith Stern Consulting, Inc.; Lochrie & Chakas, P.A.; Mimi Sall; Rick Docen Photography; Stiles Corporation; and The Rubin Group, Inc.
