Fort Lauderdale Celebrates 50-Year Anniversary with Sister City, Medellin, Colombia

Saturday night event features a Tropical Symphony Concert at the Broward Center for Performing Arts

Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale is commemorating a 50-year Sister Cities International relationship with the City of Medellin, Columbia at a Tropical Symphony Concert at the Broward Center for Performing Arts Au-Rene Theater at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.

Scheduled performances include the National Ballet of Columbia, Claudia Diez and the TONO 40 Orchestra and the Amadeus Youth Orchestra.

Tickets for the Tropical Symphony Concert range from $30 - $100 and are available at the Broward Center for Performing Arts Box Office or online at www.browardcenter.org.

Prior to the concert, a 6:00 p.m. signing ceremony will be held at the Broward Center's Abdo New River Room to reaffirm the commitment between the City of Fort Lauderdale and the City of Medellin. The event will feature Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Bruce G. Roberts as well as other community leaders and international delegates from the City of Medellin.

The agreement aims to symbolize the continuing friendship between the two cities as well as the commitment to strengthen cultural, educational and economic ties.

Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International has fostered partnerships with 17 cities throughout the world. The partnership with the City of Medellin is the first Sister City relationship established by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
