Update: Repairs Completed on Water Main Break on NW 16th Street; Precautionary Boil Water Notice in Effect

Fort Lauderdale - UPDATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2011 – 7:23 A.M. - City of Fort Lauderdale crews completed repairs to the 8-inch water main at Powerline Road and N.W. 16th Street late last night and water service has been restored.

Please be advised that a Precautionary Boil Water Notice remains in effect for:

  • Properties facing Powerline Road (N.W. 9th Avenue) from N.W. 19th Street to N.W. 13th Street
  • Properties facing N.W. 16th Street from Powerline Road to N.W. 12 Avenue

All tap water used for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking or other consumption should be brought to a rapid boil for at least one minute. Tap water is okay to use as is for washing and bathing.

The City will issue a follow-up notification when the Precautionary Boil Water Notice is lifted.

Powerline Road is currently open in both directions.

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2011 -- 10:30 P.M. - City of Fort Lauderdale crews are completing repairs to an 8-inch water main at Powerline Road and N.W. 16th Street and water service is expected to be restored during the overnight hours.

Once water service is restored, a Precautionary Boil Water Notice will be in effect until further notice for:

  • Properties facing Powerline Road (N.W. 9th Avenue) from N.W. 19th Street to N.W. 13th Street
  • Properties facing N.W. 16th Street from Powerline Road to N.W. 12 Avenue

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2011 - 4:30 P.M. - A water main break on NW 16th Street continues to impact traffic on NW 9th Avenue (also known as Powerline Road) between NW 16th Street and NW 19th Street.

In the immediate vicinity of the leak, Fort Lauderdale Police have placed orange cones on the southbound side of the street to detour one lane of traffic onto the northbound passing lane.

Both northbound and southbound traffic is moving, however, motorists should expect volume delays. If possible, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Workers will remain on the scene until the leak is fixed.
