Walgreens Takes the Lead as Presenting Sponsor for Light Up Sistrunk

The City of Fort Lauderdale prepares to roll out the red carpet with some big help from Walgreens

Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce that Walgreens is this year’s presenting sponsor for Light Up Sistrunk 2011.  “We’re elated to have Walgreens as the first Presenting Sponsor in Light Up Sistrunk history,” said Vice Mayor Bobby DuBose.  “This is a natural alliance that will enhance all areas of the event and on a larger scale all areas of our community.”

Two important features of this new partnership are the health screenings that will take place at Light Up Sistrunk and the kid’s toy giveaway. 

Walgreens commitment to the community can be seen in various ways:  AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour, Safe Medication Disposal program, Way to Well, and Safe-a-Life Saturday.  Walgreens is committed to creating access to healthier food options and is located in more inner city neighborhoods than any other retail store.

This year’s Light Up Sistrunk promises to be bigger and better than ever.  Event highlights include:

  • Walgreens Toy Giveaway and Health Screenings
  • Visits from local sports team’s mascots
  • Lighting of the centerpiece Christmas Tree
  • Entertainment
  • A Taste of Sistrunk
  • A Kids Zone with Santa, Snow, bounce houses and much more
