Neighbors Reminded to Sign Up for Emergency Notifications
Code Red and City News Alerts Deliver Messages Via Phone and E-mail
Fort Lauderdale - Neighbors, residents and businesses in the City of Fort Lauderdale are encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications via CodeRED® and City News Alerts.
CodeRED® is a high-speed telephone communication service that enables the City to send emergency notifications to registered phone numbers. In the event of an emergency situation, the system will deliver a recorded message to a live person, cell phone, answering machine or voicemail.
Individuals who have already registered for the service but would like to update their phone number or add a cell phone number can do so by re-registering.
CodeRED® notifications cannot be delivered to phone numbers with a privacy lock feature. To ensure messages are received, residents should either turn off the privacy lock feature during emergencies, enter 954-828-8000 on their “safe list” of phone numbers, or enter a cell phone number when registering for the service.
City News Alerts is a communication service that enables the City to send mass emergency notifications by email to registered subscribers. In the event of an emergency, the system will deliver essential information to registered email addresses.
In addition to emergency notifications, email users can also sign up to receive City Commission Meeting Agendas, Notices of Intent to Award, and information about public auctions.
Signing up for both CodeRED® and City News Alerts is free. Individuals and businesses may register at the following page on the City’s website:

If you are unable to register online, please call the City of Fort Lauderdale 24 hour Customer Service Center at 954-828-8000 and a representative will be happy to assist you.
