Important Changes to Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics, and Yard Waste Disposal Services

Effective October 1, 2013, Fort Lauderdale’s neighbors are no longer able to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW), electronics, or yard waste at any of Broward County’s drop-off locations. This service change reflects a decision to streamline fiscal spending for the City’s neighbors.

Learn more on our Household Hazardous Waste page.

The City of Fort Lauderdale’s goal is to increase recycling, minimize costs, and build community through sustainable, environmentally friendly services.

The City offers a variety of solid waste services – garbage, yard waste, recycling, and bulk trash collection – to our neighbors who live in single-family homes, duplexes, and triplexes throughout the City.

A brief explanation of the City’s solid waste services is provided below. For more detailed information, please contact the 24-Hour Customer Service Center or call 954-828-8000.

The Bulk Trash Pickup Program features bulk trash collection of large household items and tree trimmings, up to 10 cubic yards in size, for residential customers. Holiday pickup schedules may vary. Please visit our Holiday Solid Waste Services Schedule. Items accepted for bulk trash pickup include appliances, furniture, carpet, mattresses, toys, wood scraps, cabinet doors, tree clippings, leaves in boxes/bags or tires (4 max.).
