  • Water is the most common substance found on Earth. The Earth's surface is 80% water.
  • Only 3% of the water on Earth is freshwater. Of that 3%, only 1% is available as drinking water. The other 2% is frozen in the polar ice caps.
  • Each of us uses almost 183 gallons of water each day.
  • The human body consists of almost two-thirds water. Water makes up 70% of the brain.
  • Humans need about 2.5 quarts of water a day for good health.
  • City water costs from 89¢ to $2.32 per 1,000 gallons compared to $1 per gallon of store-bought bottled water.
