At Work

We encourage everyone to become an "environmental citizen" by participating in our recycling program. The program's goal is to reduce business waste and its associated costs.

How Does the Program Work?

FIRST. . . It Starts at Your Desk
Separate recyclable materials from your trash and place them in your deskside bin. The deskside bins are the only bins that your company will be asked to provide, and they can be as simple as ordinary cardboard boxes. All other containers and bags will be provided.

NEXT. . .
Take the deskside bins to the central collection sites and separate their contents into the appropriate purple cart or blue bins.

How Does It Work?

What Goes in the Recycling Bins?

< < < In the LARGE PURPLE BIN

  • Bond Paper (white or colored)
  • Computer Paper
  • Envelopes (including window envelopes)
  • Manila File Folders
  • Manuals and Booklets

What Doesn't Belong in the Bins?

PLEASE RECYCLE RIGHT! Any material other than those described above will contaminate the entire load.

Please DO NOT put the following items in the recycling bins:

  • NO plastic bags or plastic packaging of any type
  • NO food waste
  • NO three-ring binders (see "Creative Waste")
  • NO carbon paper
  • NO styrofoam
  • NO video or audio tape cassettes
  • NO CD's or floppy disks
  • NO hard or bound glue books

Feel Good About Yourself

You have now become an official "environmental citizen." You are helping to keep Fort Lauderdale green while your business saves money and reduces waste.

"Creative Waste"

Anything that can be reused should be considered "creative waste." Items such as three-ring binders, file racks and trays, binder clips, foam board, packaging peanuts, and office furniture can often be used again. Your trash could be someone else's treasure. Call for more information.
