RecycleWorks!

Earn Grant $$$ for Your Neighborhood

Recycle Corps MembersRecycleWorks! is a volunteer group of Homeowner Association members that earn grant dollars for their neighborhood associations by working directly with the City Recycling Program Coordinator to promote waste reduction and recycling at home, at school, at work and at play.

Neighborhoods may appoint one resident or a group of interested residents to serve as the representative, or interested residents may volunteer independently to earn dollars for the HOA under the Recycling Incentive Grant (RIG).

RecycleWorks! volunteers meet six times each year, every other month, the last Monday of the month, beginning in January. RecycleWorks! meets at the City of Fort Lauderdale Compound at 220 SW 14th Avenue, at 7 pm. The purpose of the meetings is to meet with the Recycling Coordinator and share ideas about how to promote recycling that will help the City meet on-going recycling goals---at home, at school, at work and at play.

RecycleWorks! MembersThe Recycling Coordinator provides specific criteria for each year's RIG that have point values attached to them. At the end of each fiscal year (October to October) RecycleWorks! representatives submit a RIG application documenting points earned each year in November. The Recycling Grant Award (RIG) is presented to each participating community at Commission meetings around the first of the year, and the RecycleWorks! representative receives a thank you gift from the City as well.

For FY2007, $29,588 in grant awards was distributed among 15 neighborhood associations, representing more than 1300 hours of volunteer service.
