JETC Development Fund
Mission
The volunteer Board of the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center
Development Fund (JETCDF), formerly known as the
Jimmy Evert Tennis Center Advisory Board, works
with the City of Fort Lauderdale and raises funds to
provide
top-notch facilities, and quality programs, tournaments
and special events to stimulate an interest in
a healthy, active lifestyle through tennis.
The City of Fort Lauderdale recognizes the role of
the Fund in the development of the Jimmy Evert Tennis
Center, one of the country’s top public tennis
facilities.
The JETCDF is a private, not-for-profit organization
incorporated by the State of Florida and designated
by the Internal Revenue Service as exempt from federal
income tax under the provision of Section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 65-0951325).
History
In 1979, Jimmy Evert and Lakhi Mohnani organized
a tennis committee called the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center
Advisory Board (JETCAB) to serve the needs of local
patrons. Through the dedication of volunteers and
the support from corporate partners, the JETCAB
has
developed into a vibrant, private, non-profit organization
with programs that benefit the worldwide tennis
community. The organization is now known as the Jimmy
Evert
Tennis Center Development Fund.
Over the past two decades, the Fund has been instrumental
in securing and acting in an advisory capacity to the
City of Fort Lauderdale on capital improvement projects
in excess of $3 million to expand, upgrade and enhance
the tennis facility.
It has played a significant role in organizing and
hosting numerous programs, special events, exhibitions
and prestigious national and international tournaments
such as the City of Fort Lauderdale Championships,
the USTA Boys’ 14 Super National Clay Court Championships,
the USTA Open National Clay Court Championships and
the 2002 ITF Vets World Championships.
In addition, the Fund has developed a Tennis Hall
of Fame, located inside the clubhouse, to recognize
the accomplishments of athletes affiliated with the
Jimmy Evert Tennis Center and to those individuals
who have contributed to the development of the facility.
