On Saturday, October 27 from 8 a.m. to noon, Fort Lauderdale will join with cities across the country to participate in the largest national day of community service. Neighbors will have an opportunity to volunteer for more than 30 different projects taking place throughout our City. New this year, we will paint the home of an elderly neighbor, install smoke alarms at residential properties, host a shoreline cleanup in Sweeting estates, create a mural in the Home Beautiful neighborhood, paint a 700’ Sidewalk-by-Number in MASS, work on an edible food forest and host a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the installation of the new entryway signs in the Edgewood neighborhood. We encourage you to pick a project, lend a hand and make a difference. To sign up or for more information, contact Jorg Hruschka, Chief Service Officer at Jhruschka@fortlauderdale.gov
