The City of Fort Lauderdale is accepting nominations for the 2018 Transportation Awards, which are given for innovation, advocacy, and excellence in transportation projects, programs, or efforts within the City. Applications are being accepted online and submissions are due by Friday, April 27, 2018, at 5 p.m. The winners will be announced at the 7th Annual Transportation Summit set for Wednesday, May 16.
The Transportation Awards recognize contributions community members make to help the City achieve its goal of being a safe, connected, multimodal, and sustainable community. Awards will be presented in two categories:
Neighbor Champion – awarded to a Fort Lauderdale resident or neighborhood for efforts to promote safer and connected streets through initiating, implementing, or advocating for a transportation project, program, or effort.
Outstanding Project or Program – awarded to a project or program that has advanced the principles of complete streets, multimodal travel, or traffic safety within the City.
The Transportation Awards were introduced in 2016 as part of the annual Transportation Summit. Past award recipients include Ronald Centamore, 2016 Neighbor Champion; Frederic Stresau, 2017 Neighbor Champion; Tarpon River Civic Association, 2016 Outstanding Program; and Mockingbird Trail, 2017 Outstanding Project.
