Traffic Advisory: City Installing Pedestrian Safety Improvements on N. Andrews Avenue and N.E. 3rd Avenue at N.E. 1st Street
As part of the City of Fort Lauderdale's Downtown Walkability Community Investment Plan and Vision Zero initiative to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on our streets to zero, the City is installing pedestrian safety improvements on N. Andrews Avenue and N.E. 3rd Avenue at N.E. 1st Street. These improvements include new crosswalks, pedestrian refuge areas, new medians with Florida-friendly landscaping, and pedestrian actuated crossing lights. Construction on this project will begin on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 7 a.m. and is expected to be complete this fall.

Crews are making tremendous progress on this project. Weather permitting, all roadway construction that impacts traffic will be complete by 7 a.m., Thursday, May 30. The roadway construction will then be followed by completing the crosswalks and installing landscaping at both the Andrews Avenue and the N.E. 3rd Avenue location. This work will have minimal traffic impact.
Traffic Impacts and Road Closure Information
Throughout construction, one travel lane in each direction will be maintained on N. Andrews Avenue and N.E. 3rd Avenue. There will be intermittent road closures on N.E. 1st Street.

- The contractor will be milling and paving (asphalt work) at N.E. 3rd Avenue/N.E. 1st Street intersection and Andrews/N.E. 1st Street intersection.
