Redistricting Map - 6B Approved

Fort Lauderdale City Commission recently approved a new Commission District Map in response to the need to reestablish Fort Lauderdale’s Commission district boundaries to ensure population equity based on 2020 U.S. Census data. The new map was developed by redistricting consultants from Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Florida Institute of Government.

  • March 7, 2022: FAU consultants released the district analysis report of the City of Fort Lauderdale
  • March 15, 2022: FAU presented its report and findings at the City Commission conference meeting
  • March 17, 2022: City residents and neighborhood groups provided input on the new district maps at a workshop
  • March 23, 2022: Fort Lauderdale's Redistricting Final Report was issued
  • April 5, 2022: FAU presented 4 alternative map options at the regular City Commission meeting
  • April 8, 2022: Amendment - Option 5 redistricting prepared by FAU which attempts to incorporate the comments provided by the City Commission and the public
  • April 15, 2022: Amendment 2 - Additional Redistricting Alternatives prepared by FAU which attempts to incorporate the comments provided by the City Commission and the public
  • April 20, 2022: Amendment 3 -Additional Redistricting Alternative prepared by FAU which attempts to incorporate the comments provided by the City Commission and the public
  • May 7, 2022: New Redistricting will be adopted
