Project Overview

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with David Mancini & Sons, Inc. to replace sewer force main along NE 38th Street from NE 12th Avenue to US 1 / N. Federal Highway in the City of Oakland Park and the Coral Ridge Country Club Estates neighborhood.

The contractor is working in two areas on NE 38th Street: 

• South of the intersection at NE 13th Avenue 
• At the roundabout on NE 16th Avenue 

 Traffic Impacts (February 2026 – March 2026)

• NE 38th Street will be closed at NE 16th Avenue Traffic will be detoured to NE 39th Street, NE 15th Avenue and NE 37th Street.
• NE 38th Street will be open to local traffic only between N. Dixie Highway and NE 16th Avenue and between NE 16th Avenue and N. Federal Highway.
• NE 13th Avenue will be open to local traffic only between NE 38th Street and NE 37th Street. Through traffic will be detoured to NE 12th Avenue and NE 36th Street.
• NE 16th Avenue will be open to local traffic only between NE 37th Street and NE 39th Street.
• Please follow posted signs and drive with caution.

Roadway restoration is scheduled to take place in March 2026. Restoration will require temporary road closures. Notifications will be shared before restoration begins. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2026.

Work is generally taking place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some weekend and overnight work may be required. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Original Notice

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with David Mancini & Sons, Inc. to replace 11,058 feet of sewer force main along NE 38th St. from NE 12th Ave. to the Coral Ridge Country Club in the City of Oakland Park and the Coral Ridge Country Club Estates neighborhood and along NE 50th Ct. and NE 51st St. from NE 13th Ave. to NE 18th Ave. in the Coral Ridge Isles neighborhood. This project includes:

• Installing new 20-42-inch diameter sewer force mains made from high-density polyethylene to replace existing cast iron force mains
• Connecting to nearby existing lines
• Resurfacing the roadway as needed

Construction will begin on Monday, April 1, 2024, and is expected to be completed in fall 2025. Work will generally take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some overnight work may be required. Crews will install the new sewer force mains utilizing a combination of open-cut and trenchless technology to expedite completion and minimize impacts to the community. Phase 1 of this project will take place along NE 13th Ave., NE 50th Ct., NE 15th Ave., NE 51st St. and NE 18th Ave. Crews will then move south to work along NE 38th St. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

• One lane in each direction of NE 13th Ave., NE 50th Ct., NE 15th Ave., NE 51st St. and/or NE 18th Ave. may be closed during construction. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
• Each street within the project limits (starting at NE 13th Ave. & heading east) will be closed for approximately ten days. Advanced notice will be provided and local traffic will be allowed to pass.
• NE 13th Ave. will be closed between Commercial Blvd. and NE 50th Ct. Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Mon., April 1 for approximately ten days for the installation of new sewer force main. Traffic control personnel will provide access to NE 13th Ave. residents.
• One westbound lane of Commercial Blvd. will be closed between NE 15th Ave. and NE 12th Ave. overnight Monday through Friday evenings between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. from Mon., April 1 through Thurs., April 11 for sewer pipe connections. During this time, left turns from eastbound Commercial Blvd. to northbound NE 13th Ave. will not be permitted. Drivers will be detoured to NE 15th Ave.
• Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
