The City of Fort Lauderdale is thrilled to announce the grand opening of Thrive Art District, a transformative project set to revitalize the industrial area of the Progresso Village neighborhood. Located along NW 5th Avenue between NW 7th Street and NW 8th Street, Thrive Art District is turning urban blight into a vibrant space for business, culture, and entertainment.
The project spans five acres and features over 80,000 square feet of retail, office, food, and beverage space. Several businesses have already leased space, including Uncommon Path Brewing, Glass and Pen Studios, Sellstate 360 Realty, Flagler School of Real Estate, GiGi's Bridal, Blue Diamond Fitness, Obsidian Coffee, Rocu Solutions, Seart Marine, Beyond Haute Vintage, Pleasant Image Distributing, Atomic Freedom Bags, AP Training Center, and Anna King Photography.
Mayor Dean Trantalis expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Thrive Art District is more than just a development; it is a testament to the transformative power of public and private partnerships. This significant step in Fort Lauderdale’s efforts to foster economic growth and community development will provide a wealth of opportunities for local businesses and artists."
Vice Mayor Steven Glassman highlighted the City's nearly $3 million investment in the area's transformation. "The City of Fort Lauderdale is committed to creating spaces that reflect our community's creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. The power of the arts is transformative, and our neighborhoods are seeing that happen in real-time. Thrive Art District is a shining example of how we are turning once-blighted areas into thriving hubs of activity and innovation. "
The collaboration between the City, developers, and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) preserves the neighborhood's unique character while embracing modern development.
In addition to its commercial and cultural offerings, Thrive Art District is planning a series of events aimed at fostering community engagement and entertainment. The centerpiece of these activities is Music Square, a 17,000 square foot space that hosts a variety of events every weekend. Planned events include Artwalks, Cars and Coffee meetups, markets, music festivals, beer and wine festivals, and pop-up events, making Music Square a focal point for weekend entertainment and cultural activities in Fort Lauderdale.
