Share Your Input in the City Manager Selection Process

The City of Fort Lauderdale is embarking on an important search to recruit a new City Manager to lead the daily operations of our city. This role is vital for ensuring that Fort Lauderdale continues to grow, thrive, and meet the needs of our residents.

As part of this effort, a dedicated search committee has been established to help guide the process. To make sure that your voice is heard, we are asking residents to share their expectations and desires for the next City Manager. Your feedback is critical in helping shape the future leadership of Fort Lauderdale.

We encourage you to take part in our survey at SpotlightFTL.com/cmrecruitment. All responses will remain anonymous and will be considered by the committee as they work through the selection process. This website will also be updated with new information throughout the process so you can follow along.

Powers and Duties of the City Manager Search Committee

The City Manager Search Committee has been tasked with several key responsibilities:

  1. Advising the City Commission – The committee will provide valuable recommendations on all matters related to the hiring of a new City Manager for Fort Lauderdale.
  2. Community Input – The committee will listen to feedback from residents, neighborhoods, and community groups regarding their concerns and expectations for the next City Manager, and will pass these along to the City Commission.
  3. Candidate Review – With the help of an external consultant, the committee will review resumes, interview selected candidates, and prepare a short list of finalists for the City Commission to consider.
  4. Additional Responsibilities – From time to time, the City Commission may request the committee to carry out other duties as part of this important process.
