Hurricane Erin, sitting just offshore, is pushing tides about a foot higher than normal in Fort Lauderdale. Last night’s high tide went over the level where we start to see minor flooding in low-lying areas.
Now through the weekend:
- Mild flooding is possible during high tides.
- If it rains at the same time as high tide, water will drain slowly and could cause temporary ponding on streets.
- Once tides recede, conditions should improve.
City crews are monitoring conditions and will provide updates if needed.
